Nitish Upadhyaya

Director Of Behavioral Insights at Ropes & Gray

Nitish Upadhyaya has a diverse work experience, starting with a role as a Trainee Solicitor at Allen & Overy from March 2012 to March 2014. Nitish then became an Associate at the same company, specializing in litigation related to banking, finance, and regulatory matters. During this time, Nitish was involved in a multi-jurisdictional investigation into a bank's foreign exchange manipulation, where they played a key role in project management, technical remediation efforts, and presenting investigation results to the client.

From January 2018 to September 2018, Nitish took a career break to work for the Mondo Foundation, where they helped scope and launch an employability project in Nepal. Nitish also traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and the Silk Road during this break.

Returning to Allen & Overy, Nitish became a Senior Innovation Manager in September 2018, leading the ideas and investment team within the Legal Technology Group. Nitish focused on prototyping and delivering solutions that addressed pain points raised by the staff and clients of the firm. Nitish utilized design thinking methodology to build concepts, prove value, and facilitate behavior change.

Most recently, Nitish has joined Ropes & Gray LLP in 2022 as the Director of Behavioral Insights.

Nitish Upadhyaya completed their education at the University of Cambridge, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Law from 2007 to 2010. Nitish then pursued further studies at the College of Law, obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from 2010 to 2011. Recently, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2020 to 2022, where they earned an MSc in Behavioural Science.
