Karen Kavanaugh possesses extensive experience in strategic initiatives and public policy, currently serving as Chief Officer for Strategic Initiatives at the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers since April 2020. Prior to this, Kavanaugh held various senior roles at The Pew Charitable Trusts, including Senior Officer for Strategy and Operations and Project Director, overseeing significant projects such as a $6M Drug Safety Project. Kavanaugh has a strong background in managing state campaigns, economic development, and health policy, demonstrated through successful initiatives that enacted legislation in multiple states. Additionally, prior positions include Federal Policy Advisor for Governor Jennifer M. Granholm and Chief of Staff for Detroit City Council President Maryann Mahaffey. Kavanaugh holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Wayne State University.
