Garrett Karrberg is currently a buyer at Rough Trade US. Garrett has a long history of working in the music industry in various capacities. Garrett started out as a writer for The Poleax and The Hairsplitter. From there, Garrett moved on to become a used book buyer/sales associate at The Strand Bookstore. After a few years at The Strand, Garrett became a marketing/writing intern at ISSUE Project Room. In February 2019, Garrett began working at Rough Trade as an assistant buyer. In June 2022, Garrett was promoted to buyer. In this role, Garrett is responsible for placing new release and restock orders for approximately 15 vendors, ordering product for in-stores, signings, and other events, communicating with the marketing team to set priorities, making decisions on product splits and transfers between the shop and warehouse, liaising with our UK team about product splits and overseas transfers, and making consignment decisions and tracking product and performance.
Garrett Karrberg is a PhD Candidate in Modern European Theirtory at the University of Minnesota. Their research focuses on the history of Britain and Ireland in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Garrett holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Modern British and Irish Theirtory from The University of Edinburgh, and a Double BA in Theirtory (Honors) and Communications Studies from American University.
