Jeanie McDowell

Jeanie McDowell is currently a Marketing and Communications Specialist at Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Jeanie previously worked as a University Relations Staff Writer at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from September 2015 to November 2016. In this role, they wrote feature stories, covered events, and pitched media ideas for UNCG's School of Education, School of Nursing, Veteran's Association, and a number of other departments. Her work was featured on UNCG's website, UNCG Magazine, and the college's Research Magazine. Jeanie also coordinated advertising, media coverage, and logistics for UNCG's Science Science Everywhere festival.

Prior to their work at UNCG, Jeanie McDowell was a Education Reporter at the Salisbury Post from December 2013 to August 2015. In this role, they covered education in Rowan County, including two public school systems, several private schools, and three colleges. Jeanie also covered the towns of Landis and Faith, as well as any general assignment stories as needed. Her duties included writing approximately 10 articles each week, writing features for the weekly education page, writing a weekly column, gathering and editing articles and briefs for the education section, photographing and videoing assignments as needed, and editing video. Jeanie also managed the Post's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
