Lakshmi Samarakoon

Lakshmi Samarakoon has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Lakshmi most recently worked as the Head of Finance at the Royal Academy of Dance. Prior to that, they held positions such as Financial Controller and Senior Management Accountant at the same organization.

Before joining the Royal Academy of Dance, Lakshmi served as the Head of Finance at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, a global charitable organization dedicated to advancing human rights in business. Lakshmi was responsible for managing the finance function, developing budgets, and implementing internal financial control systems. Lakshmi also previously worked as an Accountant at the same organization.

Lakshmi has also worked as a Financial Accountant at Care UK (Harmoni), where they facilitated the transition of financial accounting software and established compliant procedures and internal controls. Additionally, they founded and chaired the performing arts charity A.S.I.A, which delivered community and educational projects in North West London.

Prior to their career in finance and accounting, Lakshmi worked as a Management Accountant at High Point Rendel Ltd, where they handled financial information for international branches and construction projects worldwide. Lakshmi also served as a Financial Systems Accountant at London Transport Distribution Services, supervising sales and purchase ledger teams and leading an automated systems transition.

Throughout their career, Lakshmi has taken temporary short-term finance assignments and worked as a Graduate Trainee Engineer at Mott Macdonald Consulting Engineers, where they gained training in transportation and geotechnical engineering divisions.

Lakshmi Samarakoon holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London. Lakshmi also has completed the ACCA program from Kaplan Financial Limited.
