Alex Butler

Alex Butler is an experienced professional in digital transformation and strategic leadership, currently serving as an Independent Governor at Royal Agricultural University since July 2025. With previous roles including Director of Business Transformation at United Response, Butler led digital initiatives in a complex care environment. As Deputy Chair and Chair of the Nominations Committee at SafeLives, a charity focused on ending domestic abuse, significant contributions were made to organizational development. Prior positions also include Executive Director of Digital at Citizens Advice and Chief Digital and Information Officer at the University of Bath, where Butler established pivotal digital strategies and frameworks. Additional experience includes digital transformation leadership at Chelmsford City Council and consulting work through Creative Activist, handling various projects related to customer experience and digital capability. Academic background includes a B.Ed (Hons) in English and Drama from Kingston University.
