Mike Stepanek

Principal Engineer (robotic Research) at RRAI

Mike Stepanek has a diverse work experience spanning from 2000 to the present. Mike started their career at IBM as an Electronics Engineer from June 2000 to December 2001. Mike then joined Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer from January 2002 to January 2009, where they worked on defense and aerospace programs and conducted security vulnerability research. Mike moved to Xerox (formerly ACS) in February 2009 as a Principal Software Engineer, focusing on municipal vehicle tracking and embedded software development until June 2012. Mike then joined Cisco (formerly Sourcefire) in June 2012 and worked as a Technical Leader, Software Engineer, and Architect until July 2022. Mike's responsibilities at Cisco included cybersecurity research and development, leading agile development teams, and performing tasks such as code reviews, interviewing, and mentorship. Currently, Mike holds the role of Principal Engineer at RRAI since July 2022, where they work on vehicle autonomy for industrial applications, primarily focusing on software development using C++ and Python in a Linux environment with the ROS framework.

Mike Stepanek received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1999. Mike then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Engineering, which they completed in 2000 at Virginia Tech as well.
