Director of Merchandising

RUDIS is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Merchandising to lead our merchandising team and drive the success of our product assortment. As the Head of Merchandising, you will be responsible for developing and implementing merchandising strategies, distribution strategies, maximizing sales and profitability, and ensuring the right product mix to meet customer demands. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and sales, to achieve business objectives and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies aligned with the company's goals and brand vision.

  • Consistently demonstrate an ability to turn consumer insight into actionable recommendations as it relates to assortment strategy.

  • Lead a team of merchandisers, buyers, and planners, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.

  • Oversee the product assortment planning process, ensuring a balanced and profitable mix of products that meet customer needs and preferences.

  • Conduct market analysis, including competitor research, consumer trends, and demand forecasting, to identify opportunities and risks in the market.

  • Collaborate with the product development team to define product specifications, pricing, and positioning strategies.

  • Collaborate with the product development team regarding the product life cycle, from concept to launch, including assortment planning, pricing, and inventory management.

  • Responsible for executing the seasonal financial plan into a product assortment while preserving brand position and brand image.

  • Actively participate and influence in budget meetings to understand product spend and inventory investment.

  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop effective promotional strategies and campaigns to drive sales and brand awareness.

  • Monitor and analyze sales performance and key merchandising metrics, making data-driven recommendations for optimization and improvement.

  • Analyze sales data and generate weekly and monthly reports.

  • Build strong relationships with Sales, Retailers, Wholesalers, Marketing and Events, Influencers, Collaborators, etc.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of the competition.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Merchandising, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

  • 7+ years of proven experience in merchandising, buying, or product management roles, preferably within the retail industry.

  • Specialized knowledge, skills, and experience within distribution strategy

  • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of merchandising principles, including assortment planning, product lifecycle management, and pricing strategies.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing and developing a team.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to drive informed merchandising decisions.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in using merchandising tools and systems, as well as Microsoft Excel and other analytical software.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
