Dirk Tischler

Dirk Tischler is a professor at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since January 2018, previously serving as junior professor. Tischler has authored works in the "Enzymes" section for Römpp Georg Thieme Verlag since July 2016 and has been the Country Ambassador of the American Society for Microbiology since January 2021. In addition, Tischler held an advisory role for the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt from July 2014 to October 2022. From July 2012 to October 2020, Tischler led a research group focusing on metallophores, flavoproteins, and biocatalysis at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Tischler was actively involved with the American Society for Microbiology from May 2013 to December 2016 as chair and past-chair of the Young Leader Circle. Earlier experience includes being a young ambassador at Wageningen Universiteit and a PhD scholar at San Francisco State University and Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, with a doctoral degree in applied natural sciences from TU Bergakademie Freiberg awarded in 2012, following a diploma from the same institution in 2007.
