Robert Russell

Robert Russell represents businesses and individuals in a wide-range of tax matters. He provides tax planning, tax controversy and transactional tax services with a specialty on cross-border tax issues.

Robert has extensive experience in both domestic and international business transactions, including entity structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and financing transactions. He also assists with tax planning for U.S. residents and nonresident alien individuals and business for U.S. tax issues related to foreign entities, assets, trusts, foreign tax credits, transfer pricing and digital currency.

In addition, Robert represents clients in federal and state tax examinations, appeals and litigation. He developed an expertise while serving in prior government roles with the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Treasury and the U.S. Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation

Robert is also a Certified Public Accountant and is the current chair of the American Institute of CPAs – International Tax, Technical Resource Panel. He holds an LL.M. in tax from Georgetown University Law Center, J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and a B.B.A. in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. He also earned a certificate in Comparative Tax Administration and Tax Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
