Matt Wasowski

Director, New Business And Product Development, Events at SAE International

Matt Wasowski has an extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Matt currently serves as the Director of New Business and Product Development, Events at SAE International, where they create new events for emerging markets in the automotive and aerospace industries. Prior to this, they were the Chief Executive Officer of Nerd Nite, a global presentation series that they expanded to nearly 125 cities worldwide. Matt also worked at Reed Exhibitions US as the Content Director for New York Comic Con/BookExpo & BookCon/Star Trek Mission, leading the programming of mega conventions and creating New York Comic Con Presents. Additionally, they served as the Festival Director of New York Super Week, an offshoot of New York Comic Con. Before that, they were an Adjunct Professor at Holmes Community College, teaching creative writing online. Matt started their career at Blackboard, where they held marketing leadership roles and eventually became the Senior Director of Customer Programs. Matt also briefly worked as the Director of Communications at Student Online.

Matt Wasowski received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. Matt focused on concentrations in Marketing and Creative Writing during their time there. In 2006, they completed their Master of Fine Arts degree in Non-Fiction Creative Writing from The New School.
