Prof Richard Lyon MBE has extensive work experience in the field of emergency medicine and pre-hospital care. Prof Richard currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Safeguard Medical since March 2020, and previously held the same role at Prometheus Medical Limited since May 2012. Additionally, Prof Lyon has served as the Deputy Medical Director at Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust since December 2011. Prof Richard is also a Professor of Pre-hospital Emergency Care at the University of Surrey since April 2016. Prior to their current roles, they worked as a Consultant & Clinical Lead for Pre-hospital Care at NHS Lothian since August 2004, and as a Medical Officer in the British Army (Territorial Army) since September 2001.

Prof Richard Lyon MBE pursued their education in a systematic manner, obtaining their Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from The University of Edinburgh from 1999 to 2004. Prior to this, they attended the European School Luxembourg from 1990 to 1999, although the specific degree name and field of study during this period remain undisclosed.
