Rachel van der Merwe

Rachel van der Merwe has over 20 years of experience in the tech industry. Rachel began their career in 1999 as a Product Manager for Mobile Banking (WAP) at Nedbank. In 2003, they moved to Absa Group as a Product Manager for their Electronic Messaging Service. In 2019, they joined SafeStack as a Project Manager, Product Owner for Security & Privacy Awareness Programs, and eLearning Content Writer for Cyber Security Awareness. In their current role, they work remotely with a team of colleagues from New Zealand and Australia in a startup company. Her focus is on creating secure online experiences for everyone.

Rachel van der Merwe completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Johannesburg from 1995 to 1997, majoring in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. Rachel then went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce Honours at the same university in 1998, majoring in Marketing Management. In November 2022, they obtained several certifications, including Product Management Foundations from the Product Institute, Security Architect: Level 1 and Level 2 from SafeStack, Security Fundamentals: Level 1 from SafeStack, HubSpot Email Marketing Certified from HubSpot, and (ISC)² Candidate from (ISC)².
