Phil Thompson is the current Client Experience Manager at Saffire. Phil has held this position since July 2016. Prior to that, they were the Marketing Manager at Kansas Expocentre / SMG from May 2008 to July 2016. In that role, they were responsible for event marketing, promoter relations, venue marketing, public relations, website development and maintenance, print and digital ad design, sponsorship sales, digital signage design & scheduling, live event live video production, and customer service.
Before their time at Kansas Expocentre / SMG, Phil was the Online Operations Manager at The Topeka Capital-Journal from April 1999 to February 2008. As the Online Operations Manager, they led the online development and content staff, worked with the advertising department to build and refine relevant, marketable products, joined ad staff in making first-person presentations to enhance sales efforts, worked with the newsroom to streamline content delivery and create robust web portals, and worked with the executive staff to establish and maintain the newspaper's online mission.
Phil's career started in September 1994 as a Digital Imaging Specialist / Webmaster at Wolfe's Cameras, Camcorders and Computers. Phil held that position until April 1999 when they left to start their own company, Yowza! Productions.
In January 1989, Phil began working as the Production Director at KMAJ FM/AM. Phil held that position for five years until December 1994.
Phil Thompson has a degree in Communication and Media Studies from Washburn University.
