Volker Böhnert

Volker Böhnert is a Senior Scientist II at Sail Biomedicines since January 2024, previously serving as a Senior Scientist at Laronde, where the focus was on establishing endless RNA (eRNA) as a transformative class of drugs in modern medicine. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position at Stanford University, where key contributions involved demonstrating the role of extracellular cGAMP as an immunotransmitter, characterizing ENPP1 as an innate immune checkpoint, and mentoring students while collaborating on various projects. Böhnert’s academic journey began with a PhD in Molecular BioMedicine from the University of Bonn, supplemented by early roles as a student tutor and research assistant at the same institution, where foundational research skills in immunology and molecular medicine were developed.
