Travis Wallace has worked in the engineering and teaching fields since 2010. From 2010-2012, they were the President and Owner of Thermoelectric Power Systems, LLC. From 2012-2022, they worked at Maine Maritime Academy, first as an Associate Professor, then as a Research Engineer in the Marine Engine Testing and Emissions Laboratory (METEL). In this role, they were the lead research engineer on METEL's thermoelectric research program, and worked to develop and evaluate alternative fuels, develop biofuel components from algae growth, and develop new methods of determining exhaust gas emissions. Travis also served as Senior Engineering Training Officer, overseeing the training curriculum during the annual summer cadet training cruise. Finally, they also worked as an Assistant Professor, both full-time and temporarily. In 2022, they began working as a Customer Success Engineer for SailPlan.

Travis Wallace has an extensive education history. In 2004, they obtained their B.S. in Marine Systems Engineering from the Maine Maritime Academy. From 2009 to 2012, they received their M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Thermal and Fluid Sciences from the University of Maine. Travis then went on to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Thermal and Fluid Sciences from the University of Maine, which they obtained in 2021. In addition to their educational background, they have obtained certifications from the U.S. Coast Guard, IBM, and the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
