Blake Thomas

Blake Thomas serves as the Senior Advisor on Real Estate and Capital Projects and previously held the position of Director of Community and Neighborhoods at Salt Lake City Corporation since August 2020. With a focus on executing the Mayor’s vision for community development, responsibilities include overseeing building permits, planning, and a $50 million budget across various city programs involving 250 employees. Prior experience includes roles at Salt Lake County, where Blake was the Economic Development Director, Municipal Economic Development Director, and Regional Economic Development Manager, achieving notable success in tax increment financing and project area growth. Additional experience includes serving as a Renewable Energy Development Specialist at the Utah Governor's Office of Energy Development and contributions as a graduate research assistant and project manager in educational institutions and research organizations. Blake holds a Master’s Degree from Utah State University and undergraduate degrees from Utah State University and Utah Valley University.
