James Broadbent

HR Director, Faculty Services at Salt Lake Community College

James Broadbent has over 14 years of work experience in HR management and faculty services. James started their career in 2006 as an HR Manager Faculty at Salt Lake Community College, where they were responsible for faculty compensation, recruitment, equity, and academic policies. In 2016, they were promoted to the position of HR Director, Faculty Services, overseeing a wider range of responsibilities including serving on the college ethics committee, advising senior leadership on policies, advocating for diversity and inclusion, leading cross-functional teams, and administering annual contracts. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Evaluator for Business Teams at Western Governors University starting in 2010.

James Broadbent received a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Utah State University in 2003. James then pursued an MBA with an emphasis in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix, completing it between 2004 and 2006. In terms of additional certifications, James obtained a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in September 2015, and a SLCC Search Advocate Credential from Salt Lake Community College in March 2018. James also obtained various other certifications, including the Thriving Workplace Culture Professional (TWCC) from Salveo Partners in 2020, the Search Advocate Training Certificate from Oregon State University in 2017, and the SLCC President's Leadership Institute certificate from Salt Lake Community College in 2016. Additionally, James is planning to obtain the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in 2023.
