Sundar Rajan

Sundar Rajan has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries and roles. Sundar is currently working as the Director of Software Engineering, Infrastructure at Samsara since December 2019. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2019, Sundar worked as the Director of Software Engineering, Data Platform at Elementum.

Before their roles at Samsara and Elementum, Sundar gained experience in the technology field working at Cisco. From 2015 to 2017, they served as the Technical Leader of IoT Software Platform, where they led two teams responsible for supporting the IoT software platform's infrastructure. Sundar managed the CI/CD team, which automated build infrastructure and release management, as well as the logging/monitoring team, which built subsystems for logging and metrics/alerting for IoT application containers.

Prior to their time at Cisco, Sundar worked at Intuit from 2005 to 2015. Sundar held various roles during their tenure, including Senior Development Manager, Supportability Lead, Staff Engineer, and Staff Software Engineer. Sundar played a significant role in the adoption of 3rd party log aggregation technology, automated alerting, and dashboards in the Small Business Connect group. Sundar also served as the architect for Intuit SyncManager, a product that synchronized QuickBooks desktop data to Intuit's accounting cloud.

Before their experience at Intuit, Sundar worked as a Software Design Engineer at Tektronix, Inc. and a Software Engineer at i2 Technologies. Sundar started their career as a Staff Engineer at GE Harris Energy Control Systems.

Sundar's educational background includes a Ph.D. from Iowa State University, where they conducted research on electric power generation scheduling. Sundar also worked as a Research Assistant during their time at the university. Additionally, Sundar gained practical experience as an intern at New England Power Service Company, where they built an automated model for energy pricing and evaluated scheduling tools for the utility.

Sundar Rajan has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University. Additionally, they hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.
