San Diego County Office of Education
Rick Shea was appointed to the board in 2015 and elected by the community to retain the seat in 2016. He represents District 5, which runs along the coast from Del Mar to Camp Pendleton and includes some inland North County areas.
Shea retired as the special assistant to the county superintendent/administrative services officer for the San Diego County Office of Education. Before that he served as a classroom teacher, head teacher for the Juvenile Court Schools, and as a juvenile probation officer. Shea has also served on the Encinitas City Council, Encinitas Fire Protection District, San Dieguito Water District, Cardiff by the Sea Sanitation District, and North County Transit District.
He lives in Encinitas, and has lived in District 5 for more than 40 years.
