Mehrdad Majidi

Mehrdad Majidi serves as the Transmission Planning Manager and Team Lead for Distribution Protection and Automation at San Diego Gas & Electric since July 2020, overseeing a team of eight electrical engineers and engaging with regulatory entities on wildfire data requests. Previously, in the role of Principal Engineer, Majidi advanced protection standardization and represented the company in various technical groups. Concurrently, since August 2013, Majidi has been a part-time faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno, developing wildfire mitigation plans and conducting research on distribution management systems. Majidi's prior experience includes roles at NV Energy, Freeport-McMoRan, and other engineering firms, where responsibilities ranged from senior engineering positions in system protection to electrical design and optimization in power systems. Majidi holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the Power and Water University of Technology.
