Peter Vroom

Peter Vroom is an experienced executive manager currently serving as the Deputy Public Utilities Director for the Environmental Monitoring & Technical Services Division at the City of San Diego, overseeing over 210 employees and a budget of $40 million. With a rich background in marine biology, Vroom has held multiple roles across various reputable organizations, including co-owner and scientific advisor at nettle+fin, and research associate at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Vroom has contributed significantly to environmental studies and research through previous positions at NOAA and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, holding roles such as benthic ecologist and principal investigator. Vroom obtained a PhD and MS in Botanical Sciences from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a BS in Biology from the University of Puget Sound.
