VP, Business Engagement at San Diego Workforce Partnership

Claudia Huerta is currently the VP of Business Engagement & Partnerships at San Diego Workforce Partnership. Claudia has extensive experience in both the public and private sector, with a focus on economic development and implementation of new programs.

Huerta began their career as a Legislative and Political Engagement Manager at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest. In this role, they advocated for state and federal policies to protect access to reproductive health care. Claudia also managed the organization's political endorsement process and developed relationships with elected officials.

In 2017, Huerta transitioned to the City of Carlsbad, where they served as Economic Development Senior Program Manager. In this role, they worked with businesses to create jobs and promote economic growth. Claudia also managed the city's economic development incentive programs and assisted businesses with relocating to Carlsbad.

Huerta's most recent position was as Director of Implementations at Veyo. In this role, they oversaw the implementation of six Medicaid/Medicare NEMT programs in four states. Claudia also motivated and coached team leaders and led a team of subject matter experts on new client implementations, market enhancements, and strategic technology partnerships.

Huerta is a founding member of the San Diego Tech Hub, a nonprofit organization that fosters collaboration between the tech community and other industries. Claudia is also a member of the advisory board for Startups San Diego, a program that helps entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.

Claudia Huerta earned their Master's degree in Urban Planning from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. Claudia also holds a BA in Economics & Spanish Literature from Columbia University in the City of New York.

Claudia Huerta reports to Peter Callstrom, President & CEO. Claudia Huerta works with Kiyoshi Kanzawa - Senior Manager of Information Technology, Daniel Enemark - Director of Research & Senior Economist, and Rachel Merfalen - Director of Business Experience.
