Alex Vasiliev has extensive work experience in the field of GIS and spatial analysis. Alex began their career as a Project Engineer at the National Water Mgt Department, where they developed Decision Support Systems for a water resources management program. Alex also served as the Assistant Project Manager for an internationally funded project.
Following that, Vasiliev worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, focusing on data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of spatial associations related to environmental justice and health effects. Alex developed spatial analysis models using GIS and statistical software.
Vasiliev then joined Coastal Planning and Design Inc as a GIS and Data Specialist. Alex managed GIS and data management tasks and worked on projects involving environmental remediation and geophysical studies.
Vasiliev's career progressed as they joined STS Consultants, Ltd., which was later acquired by AECOM. In this role, they continued to work as a GIS Specialist and Project Scientist, acquiring GIS data, running statistical analysis, and using 3D modeling and visualization to solve complex engineering problems. Alex also gained experience in demographic data analysis and running predictive and probabilistic statistical analysis.
Vasiliev transitioned to GEI Consultants, Inc., where they served as a GIS Analyst. Alex supported various departments for projects in geotechnical, environmental, water resources, ecological, utilities, and energy sectors. Alex designed and implemented project databases, conducted spatial analysis and statistics, and performed topographic and hydrologic analysis using specialized software.
Most recently, Vasiliev has been working as a Raster Data Management Specialist at Sanborn, supporting the Geospatial group OC-534 with raster data management for the BLM National Operations Center. Alex'sresponsibilities include developing and implementing data management workflows, documenting data management models, creating metadata, and performing raster analysis and classification.
Overall, Alex Vasiliev's work experience showcases their expertise in GIS, spatial analysis, data management, and statistical analysis, with a focus on solving complex engineering problems in various sectors.
Alex Vasiliev began their education journey in 1987 at the State University of Moldova, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Engineering Physics. Alex completed their undergraduate studies in 1992.
After a few years, Alex went on to further their education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. From 2000 to 2003, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Alex Vasiliev obtained a GIS Professional (GISP) certification from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) in April 2008.
