Sanctuary for Families
Whitney Hood currently serves as the Supervising Attorney at Sanctuary for Families since April 2024. Prior to this role, Whitney Hood held the position of Senior Attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) from February 2022 to April 2024, and acted as Supervising Attorney at The Door - A Center of Alternatives from June 2021 to February 2022. From November 2020 to May 2021, Whitney Hood was a Supervising Staff Attorney at Sanctuary for Families and previously worked as a Staff Attorney for Project RISE at the New York Legal Assistance Group from May 2018 to April 2020. Additional experience includes serving as an Equal Justice Works Legal Fellow at Sanctuary for Families from September 2016 to May 2018, and as a Domestic Violence Committee Member at the New York City Bar Association from September 2015 to June 2016. Whitney Hood's early career involved roles as an Abely Fellow at Equality Now and as a Legal Intern at the ACLU's Women's Rights Project. Academically, Whitney Hood earned a JD from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University, with additional studies at the University of Buenos Aires.
