Daniel McArthur is a Senior R&D Robotics Engineer and Postdoctoral Appointee at Sandia National Laboratories, focusing on unmanned systems and autonomy research and development since August 2019. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at Purdue University from August 2014 to July 2019, where Daniel developed a novel unmanned aerial vehicle and autonomous flight control software. As a Research and Development Intern at Action Target, from December 2013 to August 2014, Daniel improved the performance of moving targets by simulating electromechanical system dynamics and establishing new standards for CAD documentation. Daniel also worked as an Automation Engineering Technician at US Synthetic from October 2011 to November 2013, constructing and testing automated machines and creating mechanical and electrical drawings. Earlier, from July 2006 to October 2011, Daniel was a Data Technician/Team Leader at Backstage Library Works, focusing on MARC record conversion and team training. Daniel holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
