Doug Kothe has extensive work experience in national laboratories. Doug currently serves as the Chief Research Officer (CRO) and Science and Technology Executive for Sandia National Laboratories, where they oversee the Advanced Science and Technology Division. Prior to this, they held various roles at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, including Associate Laboratory Director and Director of the Exascale Computing Project. Doug was also the Director of the Consortium for the Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors and the Director of Science at the National Center for Computational Sciences. Before their time at Oak Ridge, they worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as the Deputy Program Director and held various technical and leadership positions. Doug also worked as a Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Los Alamos.
Doug Kothe obtained a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University in 1987. Doug also earned a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University between 1983 and 1986. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1979 to 1983.
