Michael Leong

Michael Leong is an experienced aeronautical engineer currently working at Sandia National Laboratories since June 2020, where responsibilities include performing flight safety analysis for various aerospace applications, conducting wind tunnel data analysis, and executing real-time safety assessments during launches. Previous roles at Sandia include internships in applied aerodynamics and systems engineering, alongside product engineering positions at Cummins Inc., where expertise in performance testing and technical documentation was developed. Michael also gained research experience at the Air Force Research Laboratory, focusing on algorithm development for geo-locating radio transmitters. Michael holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace Minor from New Mexico State University.
