Troy Hill has a diverse work experience spanning various fields and organizations. Troy began their career in 1993 with the United States Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist and Military Working Dog Handler, staying with them until 2007. In 1996, they also served as a Deputy - Reserve for the Elmore County Sheriffs Office for three years. In 2001, they joined the Phoenix Police Department, initially working as a Police Officer - Patrol before becoming a Police Detective in 2005. From 2015 to 2021, they served as a Public Safety Bomb Technician for the same department. In 2016, they joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Task Force Officer and remained there until 2021, working on the Regional Render Safe Team. Troy currently holds two roles at Sandia National Laboratories, where they joined as an Electromechanical Technologist in December 2021 and later became an Engineering & Operations Program / Project Lead.

Troy Hill has a Bachelor's degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from Northern Arizona University. They also have additional certifications including Tactical Bomb Technician from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2019, Rope Access Technician Level I from the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) in 2018, Public Safety Bomb Technician from the FBI in 2016, Certified Yoga Teacher from the Yoga Alliance in 2015, and Hazardous Materials Technician Certification from the Phoenix Fire Department in 2015.
