Dr. Bernd Bieker

Global Head Technology Strategy & Separation at Sandoz

Dr. Bernd Bieker has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Dr. Bernd started their career as a Research Assistant at Universität-GH Paderborn in 1992 and later served as a Research Assistant at Medizinische Universität zu Lübeck - Institut für Technische Informatik from 1994 to 1997.

In 1997, Dr. Bieker joined Netlife Internet Consulting und Software GmbH as a Project Manager before moving on to Netlife AG as the Head of Sales & Product Management in 1999. Dr. Bernd then worked as the Director of Business Development Europe at iPIN from 2000 to 2002 and as the Vertriebsleiter Holding at is:energy GmbH from 2002 to 2005.

In 2005, Dr. Bieker joined E.ON IS GmbH as the Head of Marketing & Sales and later transitioned to E.ON Business Services, where they held various roles. Dr. Bernd served as the Head of BRM Central Functions from 2009 to 2010, then as the Head of Central Corporate Services from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, they were responsible for IT Demand Management - Project Portfolio Management from 2014 to 2015.

In 2015, Dr. Bieker joined Novartis, where they held several roles, including the Head of Strategic Initiatives TechOps IT from 2015 to 2016, the Program Lead for OT Cyber Security from 2017 to 2022, and the Head of Strategic Planning & Business Operations from 2022 to 2022.

Currently, Dr. Bieker is working at Sandoz as the Global Head Transformation Office, Technology since November 2022. Dr. Bernd will also take up the position of Global Head Technology Strategy & Separation starting from September 2023.

Dr. Bernd Bieker obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechnik) from Paderborn University, where they studied from 1986 to 1991. Dr. Bernd also pursued studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1988-1989. In addition, they completed certifications including "Data-Driven Process Improvement," "Introduction to Python for Cybersecurity," "A Crash Course in Data Science," and "Introduction to Cloud Computing" from Coursera in 2021. Prior to their university education, they also received training as an Information Electronics Technician (Informationselektroniker) in 1983-1984 and as a Communication Equipment Mechanic (Nachrichtengerätemechaniker) in 1981-1983 at Nixdorf Computer AG.
