Brian Sterling

Brian Sterling is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in risk management and compliance. Currently serving as SVP and Chief Operations Officer at Wells Fargo since August 2021, Brian leads business risk and controls for regulatory operations. Additionally, Brian has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Jewish Community Center since January 2019. Previously, at Ally, Brian held the position of Head of Compliance overseeing HR, CFO, and risk functions from 2017 to August 2021. With a strong background at Bank of America from 2002 to 2016 as SVP and Retail Risk Management Executive, Brian provided critical risk oversight for major enterprise initiatives like CCAR and stress testing. Earlier in career, Brian was an Audit Manager at Andersen from 1995 to 2002. Academically, Brian holds a BSBA/MAC in Finance/Accounting and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
