Esko Laihonen

Esko Laihonen currently serves as the R&D Manager for Electric Powertrain Technology at Sandvik Mining and Construction oy since April 2024. Prior to this role, Esko held various positions at Sandvik, including Engineering Manager for Electric Vehicle Technology and Chief Engineer focusing on Battery Electric Vehicles from August 2017. From August 2007 to August 2017, Esko worked at Etteplan as a Chief Layout Engineer and Structural Analysis Engineer on diverse projects, including strength analysis and mechanical engineering for clients like Sandvik and Kone. Esko began the career as a Graduate Trainee at Sandvik Mining and Construction in early 2007 while completing a master's thesis. Esko obtained a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tampere University of Technology (2001-2007) and a Diploma in Product Development from Aalto University Executive Education in 2018.
