Erik Van Buggenhout is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in various roles within the field. As Co-Founder and Partner at NVISO Security since January 2013, Erik focuses on enhancing security practices for organizations. Concurrently, Erik serves as a Senior Instructor and Course Author at the SANS Institute, where responsibilities include teaching offensive security courses and authoring the cyber defense class "SEC599." Previously, Erik held managerial and consulting positions at Ernst & Young, leading security teams and providing technical advisory services in the EMEIA region. With a robust educational background, including a Master of Science in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, Erik is also known for founding The Hex Factor, a non-profit think tank dedicated to engaging the IT security community.
