Chris Bacon serves as the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at Santa Clara University, focusing on sustainable food systems, environmental justice, and adaptation to climatic changes in Central America. A National Science Foundation grant recipient, Chris leads a research project on food and water insecurity in Nicaragua. Prior experiences include faculty positions at UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz, where collaborative research addressed food governance and social justice. Chris co-founded the Community Agroecology Network, contributing to food security and sustainable practices in Nicaragua, and also worked as a consultant for Oxfam America on sustainable coffee initiatives in Central America. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz and a postdoctoral fellowship in Geography from UC Berkeley.
