Roger Highton has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Roger began their career in 1991 as a System Administrator at HJ Research, where they provided hardware and network support for IBM mainframe OS/390. Roger then worked at JRMA, Inc. as a Network Administrator and DBA, responsible for general network administration, Exchange mail, and Sybase SQL DBA.

In 1999, Roger joined AdNet as a Network Architect/Administrator, where they monitored industry trends and developed flexible ASP solutions, infrastructure design frameworks, and ISP strategies. Roger also managed collocated server systems and ASP applications, handled IT budget planning, and provided business solutions for clients.

From 2001 to 2005, Roger served as a Network Administrator at CarBiz USA, Inc., where they were responsible for the maintenance and operation of the company's infrastructure. Their duties included administering enterprise-level server systems, managing network hardware and software, and overseeing the Toronto to Sarasota data center migration project.

In 2005, Roger joined Hi Development as an IT Infrastructure Analyst, providing IT consulting services and advanced server and network support as a contractor. Their responsibilities included server system maintenance, network architecture, and advanced routing. Roger also handled Exchange migration projects and provided comprehensive training for server systems and software support.

Since 2009, Roger has been working at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. Roger initially joined as a Senior Database Engineer, focusing on infrastructure design and development of database and storage platforms. Their areas of expertise include SQL, storage and backup/recovery systems, virtualization technologies, security/encryption, and web systems. In June 2023, Roger was promoted to Lead Database and Storage Engineer, where they continued to lead the DBA and storage administration team, evaluate and implement new technologies, and oversee the development of database and storage platforms.

Throughout their career, Roger has gained experience with various technologies and platforms, such as SQL, Oracle, Mongo, Rubrik, EMC, Pure, Racktop, Microsoft infrastructure, Brocade, Linux, Citrix, Netscaler, Proofpoint, PPS, VMware, and cloud services. Roger has a strong track record of infrastructure design, project management, and evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Roger Highton obtained a Master's degree in Information Systems from Openshaw Technical College between 1983 and 1989. Roger also holds additional certifications including VCP from VMWare obtained in 2011 and MCSE from Microsoft obtained in 2005. It is not mentioned where they completed their secondary education or if they obtained any degrees or certifications during that time.
