Eric Vanderploeg

Eric Vanderploeg has had an extensive career in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Eric currently holds the position of VP, Head of Preclinical at Satellite Bio, a role they have held since July 2022. Prior to this, Eric founded Confluence Biotechnology Consulting in May 2019, where they provided technical and strategic consulting services for drug and device development, specializing in combination products, biomaterials, drug delivery, regenerative medicine, biologics, and medical devices.

From February 2022 to June 2022, Eric served as the Vice President of Preclinical Development, Diabetes at Sigilon Therapeutics, Inc. Before this role, they held the position of Senior Director, Preclinical Development at Sigilon Therapeutics from June 2020 to February 2022.

Before joining Sigilon Therapeutics, Eric worked at Bioventus as the Senior Director, BMP Program from October 2016 to February 2019. Eric also held the position of Director, Biomaterials Research at Bioventus from November 2013 to September 2016.

Prior to Bioventus, Eric worked at Pfizer, where they served as a Senior Principal Scientist from May 2012 to November 2013 and as a Senior Research Scientist/Principal Scientist from September 2009 to May 2012.

Eric's career started with a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they worked from August 2006 to September 2009.

Eric Vanderploeg's education history began in 1995 when they attended Calvin University. Eric pursued a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and completed their studies in 1999. Following this, Eric enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1999 and undertook a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering. Eric successfully completed their doctoral degree in 2006.
