Joan Dobias-Davis is the senior vice president and chief human resources officer for The Save Mart Companies reporting to Shane Sampson, Executive Chairman. Joan oversees all aspects of human resources strategy including talent acquisition, learning and leadership development, total rewards, workforce planning, and employee relations for over 14,000 team members.
Joan brings more than 25 years of human resources and employee relations expertise in the manufacturing, e-commerce, distribution, and retail grocery industries. Her prior experience includes both operational and progressive human resources roles at Amazon, Supervalu, Albertsons, and Winn-Dixie. Most recently, Joan was the Human Resources Leader for Switzerland-based Tetra Pak Inc., overseeing the human resource function in North, Central and South America.
Joan holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in human resources and employment relations from Pennsylvania State University.

Save Mart opened its first store in Modesto, California in January 1952, and now operates grocery stores located primarily in California's Central Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Its supermarkets and warehouse stores operate under the Save Mart Supermarkets, S-Mart, Lucky, and FoodMaxx banners. In 2007, the company doubled in size after purchasing 132 supermarkets from struggling rival Albertsons. In addition to those stores, Save Mart purchased two distribution centers and division offices in California from Albertsons. Save Mart also owns distributor Smart Refrigerated Transport.
