Sayyeda Salam has a diverse and extensive work experience in the nonprofit sector. Sayyeda began their career in 2004 as a Researcher at the British Institute in Eastern Africa. In 2005, they joined OneVoice Europe as the Director of Development, where they worked until 2008. Then, they moved to Save the Children UK and served as the Deputy Philanthropy Director from 2008 to 2013, initially joining as a Senior Philanthropy Manager. Sayyeda continued to grow within Save the Children UK and held various roles, including Philanthropy Director from 2014 to 2022, Partnerships and Philanthropy Director from 2016 onwards, and most recently, Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy since 2023. In 2014, they briefly worked at Save the Children International as the Regional Advocacy Manager for the Middle East and Eurasia. In 2022, they also had an interim role at Save the Children International as the Director of Gulf Partnerships. Sayyeda's work experience demonstrates their expertise and commitment in the fields of philanthropy, partnerships, advocacy, and international development.

Sayyeda Salam pursued their education at various prestigious institutions. In 2023, they attended Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, where they completed the Oxford Social Finance Programme with a focus on Social Finance. Earlier, from 2004 to 2005, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Asian/African History at SOAS University of London. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2003, Sayyeda Salam studied History at the University of Cambridge, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.
