Vice President Of Software Engineering at Savvas Learning

Alec Lazarescu has a vast and diverse work experience in the technology industry. Alec currently holds the position of Vice President of Software Engineering at Savvas Learning Company since May 2022. Prior to that, they founded and chaired VerseTech Metaverse in 2021.

In 2016, Lazarescu founded and chaired Bots and AI, an organization dedicated to fostering conversations and thought leadership on the transformative powers of AI and conversational interfaces. Alec grew the organization to over 5,000 members and hosted 45 meetups with speakers from prominent companies such as Amazon, SAP, IBM, Microsoft, and Spotify.

Lazarescu also worked as a Seed Investor at an Early Stage Stealth Diagnostics Company backed by YCombinator starting in June 2021.

From September 2017 to April 2022, Lazarescu served as the Chief Architect of Messaging at Synchronoss Technologies. In this role, they defined and executed the technology strategy for building and scaling a global messaging platform. Alec designed a distributed, highly available, and scalable platform architecture and developed a Messaging Marketplace to streamline carrier experiences.

As an advisor, Lazarescu contributed to Jovo from June 2017 to September 2020. Alec provided guidance on various aspects of the company's operations.

From October 2016 to September 2017, Lazarescu held the position of Senior Director of Engineering at K12. Alec drove technical direction and release management strategy for an LMS system, leading multiple teams and advising on DevOps and Cloud practices. Alec achieved significant improvements in system stability and performance through the introduction of new technologies.

Prior to that, Lazarescu served as the CTO of LearnBop from September 2014 to October 2016. Alec led the development and operations of an online mathematics assessment and practice platform, optimizing the engineering budget and redesigning the infrastructure for improved reliability.

At Pearson North America, Lazarescu held several positions, including Chief Architect of Homework Applications from March 2014 to September 2014. Alec oversaw the architecture of a portfolio generating $1B in revenue and led the development of the XL flagship learning platform.

Lazarescu joined Intellipro, Inc. in March 2005 and worked as the Manager of Applications Development and Lead Software Engineer until April 2009. Alec was responsible for revamping the hiring program and played a key role in the conversion of the mathxl.com website.

Furthermore, they achieved the "Scaled Agile Framework Agilist" certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in May 2014.
