James McNiff

James McNiff has a strong background in software engineering and leadership roles. James is currently the Head of Engineering at Abode since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Bonusly from June 2021 to March 2023, serving as an Engineering Manager and Principal Software Engineer. At Bonusly, they led various initiatives such as rearchitecting integrations, organizing company-wide Hackathons, and overhauling the application's core experience.

Before joining Bonusly, James worked at Gartner from January 2015 to April 2021 as a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead. During this time, they led multiple projects utilizing technologies such as React, Angular, PHP, AWS, MySQL, and REST APIs. James also played a key role in migrating a micro-UI site to Elastic Kubernetes Service and building a component library for multiple applications.

Prior to Gartner, James worked at Aggregato Global/Krush Communications as a Software Engineer from September 2013 to December 2014. Here, they contributed to maintaining and developing a telecommunications web portal, as well as enhancing the company's CRM system.

James began their career as a Software Engineer at The University of Texas at Austin from September 2012 to September 2013, where they built and maintained enterprise software systems. James also worked as a Software Developer at Epicom Corporation from November 2011 to April 2012, assisting clients with deploying and customizing instances of SugarCRM.

Additionally, James gained experience in quality assurance and application security as an Associate Consultant at Denim Group from April 2011 to November 2011. James also worked as a Web Applications Developer at NetworkIP from July 2010 to April 2011 and as a Software Engineering Intern at Sierra Nevada Corporation from June 2009 to June 2010.

James McNiff attended Trinity University from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
