Kevin Abma

Kevin Abma, MBA has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. Kevin currently holds the position of Director of Information Technology at Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows School District No.42. Prior to this, Kevin worked at Electram from 2015 to 2022, where they served as the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Information Technology, as well as the IT Director. Before joining Electram, they worked at the University of Alberta from 2007 to 2016, holding various roles such as Enterprise Architect, Team Lead for Cabling & Edge Network, Team Lead for Infrastructure Monitoring and Service Reporting, Network Specialist, and Computer Security Administrator. In these roles, Kevin was responsible for running network monitoring equipment, deploying new VoIP network infrastructures, managing intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, and VPNs, and addressing network-related incidents and security events. Kevin excelled in consolidating monitoring systems, rolling out new network monitoring systems, reducing the impact of network attacks, and improving wireless authentication log accuracy.

Kevin Abma completed their Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management, General at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a degree in Computer Science with a focus on Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Alberta from 2002 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Kevin also obtained several certifications. In August 2022, they completed the certification program "Data Science and Machine Learning: Making Data-Driven Decisions" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In February 2015, they received the COBIT 5 certification from APMG-International. In October 2014, they obtained the certification of Business Relationship Management Professional from the Business Relationship Management Institute. In May 2013, they completed the certification program "Project Management Essentials" from the Project Management Institute. Lastly, in July 2011, Kevin obtained the ITIL v3 certification from Loyalist Certification Services.
