Ray Milne has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Ray started their career in 1988 as an Assistant General Manager of Marketing at The Scottish Life Assurance Co, where they worked until 1996. Ray then joined Guardian Royal Exchange as the Managing Director of Employee Benefits, holding the position until 2000. From 2000 to 2003, Ray worked as Investment Director at Bank of Scotland before moving on to Halifax Financial Services, where they served as Managing Director from 2003 to 2006. In 2007, they joined Lloyds Banking Group, initially as the Existing Business Director and later as the Risk Director until 2021. In 2019, Ray also took on the role of Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board at Lloyds Bank GmbH, Germany. Alongside their roles at Lloyds, they became a Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit & Risk Committee at Horton Housing Association in 2013. Currently, Ray holds the position of Chief Risk Officer at Schroders Personal Wealth.

Ray Milne has a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University, which they obtained from 1978 to 1982. They also have a fellowship from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, which they earned from 1982 to 1984. In 1999, Ray attended INSEAD and participated in the COL (Challenge of Leadership) program. In 2021, they obtained a certification called "Lloyds Banking Group - the edge - Leadership in a Re-imagined World Programme" from Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning.
