Andrea Portier

Andrea Portier is a seasoned professional with significant experience in Earth observation and mission applications, currently serving as the GPM Mission Applications Lead at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center since 2017. In this role, Andrea advises on strategies to enhance the use of satellite precipitation data for societal benefits and facilitates stakeholder engagement. Previously, Andrea has held roles at SSAI, where contributions included coordinating applications strategies for NASA's Atmosphere Observing System and identifying stakeholder data requirements. Prior experience includes working as a Science Assistant at the National Science Foundation, where responsibilities entailed proposal review and science communication, and as a Florida Water Science Intern at the U.S. Geological Survey. Andrea holds a Master of Science in Geological and Earth Sciences from the University of Florida and dual Bachelor's degrees in Geological and Earth Sciences and International/Global Studies from The Ohio State University.
