Wesley van Dessel

Wesley Van Dessel is currently serving as the Head of Service Scientific Coordination and Communications at Sciensano since April 2018. His role involves managing external communications strategies, PR, marketing, science communication, crisis communication, and media relations. He is also responsible for consolidating and managing a newly merged service, people management, budget management, and problem-solving. Prior to his current position, Wesley held various roles at the Scientific Institute of Public Health and the European Commission, where he was involved in project management, research policy development, and communications management. Wesley's educational background includes a PhD in Biochemistry from KU Leuven, where he also obtained a Master's degree in Biochemistry.
