Our mission is to transform the way sports brands manage, leverage and license their media content. Founded in 2021, ScorePlay is the first AI-powered end-to-end media workspace designed for sports. We've co-constructed a software that helps sports organizations index, manage, distribute, and monetize their videos, live broadcasts and photos on a single platform, enabling their visual storytelling and expanding their online reach and brand. We use AI and data to tag content automatically, which can automate and streamline classification, distribution and production, as well as streamlining video broadcast workflows to better connect ecosystems.

We’re growing

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Senior Backend Engineer to work in our Product and Development team. You will be responsible for helping us design, implement and maintain the backend infrastructure for our sports media platform. This role will work closely with our Head of Engineering.

At ScorePlay you will be joining a growing company, take ownership and autonomy of your work, and contribute to building a product that changes the sports media landscape. We will provide you with a range of tools here at ScorePlay such as Linear, Notion, Claap and Discord to help you with your work.

The position

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be reporting into the Head of Engineering, but working closely with the CTO and collaborating with a small development team across different technical disciplines to build scalable, reliable, and performant backend systems. This is a hands-on technical role that requires expertise in backend technologies, cloud computing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

1. Backend Development:
   • Design, develop, monitor, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data processing pipelines using Go and other relevant technologies.
   • Implement scalable and efficient solutions to support the functionality and performance requirements of our sports media platform.
2. Database Management:
   • Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies for efficient data storage and retrieval.
   • Utilize relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) as appropriate for different use cases.
3. Cloud Computing:
   • Deploy and manage backend infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, leveraging services like EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
   • Optimize cloud resources for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
4. Integration and Collaboration:
   • Collaborate closely with front-end developers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless user experience across ScorePlay's product portfolio.
   • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize features, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives and user needs.
   • Excellent internal knowledge of ScorePlay’s product, with the ability to give relevant technical guidance and insights to the development team and assist with technical decision making.
5. Testing and Debugging:
   • Test and debug your own code, as well as others', to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability across different environments and use cases.
   • Implement unit tests (Test-Driven developments), integration tests, and end-to-end tests to validate the correctness and robustness of backend systems.
6. Technical Leadership:

   • Serve as a technical leader within the development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior engineers.

   • Share knowledge and enforce best practices with team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements and skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience with test driven development, (knowledge in behavior-driven development or Domain-driven-development is a plus)

• Strongs skills in software design and architecture

• Proven experience as a backend engineer, with expertise in Golang

• Strong understanding of database management, scalability, and performance optimization.

• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, asynchronous processing and cloud monitoring.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

This position is fully remote and we welcome candidates located in Europe.
