Alistair Cargill is an accomplished Senior Flood Risk Specialist at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, with over two decades of experience in flood risk management and hydrology. Since September 2010, Alistair has provided statutory advice to Local Authorities and has led technical reviews for flood schemes, studies, and river restoration projects. Previous roles include Manager of Operational Flood Risk, where leadership of a flood hydrologist team was essential, and Senior Scientist, focusing on guidance development for statutory flood risk advice under the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act. Alistair's earlier career involved significant contributions at AECOM, Jacobs, and SEPA, building expertise in flood-related client projects, data analysis, and government advisory roles. Alistair holds a PhD from the University of Dundee, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow, and a First Class Honours in Physical Geography from the University of Glasgow.
