Lead Geophysical Engineer at ScottishPower

Dan Morgan has extensive work experience in the field of geophysics. Dan started their career in 2003 as a General Assistant/Team Leader at The Co-op and subsequently worked at various organizations such as Admiral Group Plc, Sainsbury's, Sword Security Group, and Home Retail Group PLC in different customer service and sales roles. In 2013, they worked as an HPL Lecturer at the University of South Wales.

In 2015, Dan joined CGG as a Geoscientist where they mainly focused on producing regional-scale seismic interpretations and depth conversion. Dan actively contributed technical input on sales trips to National Governments and NOCs.

From 2019 to 2020, Dan worked as a Project Geophysicist at Reynolds International Ltd, where they were involved in geological analysis, seismic interpretation, and processing QA/QC of geophysical data. Dan also contributed to the development of ground models and technical reports for offshore wind farm and infrastructure projects.

In 2020, Dan joined ScottishPower as a Senior Geophysical Engineer and later transitioned to the role of Lead Geophysical Engineer in 2023. In this role, they support a team of geophysicists in designing, tendering, and managing geophysical surveys and ground models across the ScottishPower and Iberdrola portfolio. Collaboration and problem-solving are key aspects of their work.

Currently, Dan is also a member of the Subsurface Task Force starting from June 2023.

Dan Morgan has a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Structural Geology from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, which they completed from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Structural Geology with geophysics from the University of Leeds in 2011. Dan'sundergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science - BS in Geology/Earth Science, General, was obtained from the University of Glamorgan between 2006 and 2010.
