Mads Ragnvald Nielsen, MSc CMarTech, has a diverse range of work experience in various maritime roles. Mads Ragnvald is the Co-Founder & CEO of Scoutbase since September 2017. Additionally, they have worked as a Teaching Assistant in Human Factors and System Safety at The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, starting in January 2018. Mads Ragnvald is also an External Examiner at SIMAC - Svendborg International Maritime Academy since January 2020. Mads has been a Guest Lecturer at Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark since May 2019. Prior to these roles, they worked at Futuremar - safety intelligence as a Human Factors Consultant / Safety Investigator starting in September 2017. Mads also has significant experience as a Marine Accident Investigator at the Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board (DMAIB) from November 2013 to August 2017. Before that, they were a Ship Surveyor at the Danish Maritime Authority, focusing on health, safety, environment, and management in the Danish maritime sector. Mads Ragnvald was also a Chief Officer and 1st Officer at CT OFFSHORE, where they managed operations and participated in daily coordination. Their work experience also includes being an Assistant Instructor at SIMAC - Svendborg International Maritime Academy and a Dual Ship's Officer at Scandlines Danmark A/S.

Mads Ragnvald Nielsen, MSc CMarTech, has a diverse education history in the maritime and safety fields. Mads Ragnvald began their education in 2000 at the Danish Emergency Management Agency, where they studied Advanced Firefighting.

In 2004, Mads attended SIMAC and obtained a Professional Bachelor Degree in Dual Junior Officer, specializing in both navigator and engineer officer roles. Mads Ragnvald continued their education at SIMAC from 2008 to 2010, earning a Diploma Degree in Senior Officer, specifically as a Master Mariner.

Mads furthered their education in the maritime industry at Lloyd's Maritime Academy from 2011 to 2012, where they obtained a Diploma in Marine Surveying with an accreditation in the International Safety Management (ISM) code.

To enhance their qualifications, Mads pursued a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Human Factors and System Safety at The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University from 2015 to 2016.

In addition to their formal education, Mads has obtained several certifications to expand their expertise. Mads Ragnvald has received certifications as a Ship Security Officer/Company Security Officer (ISPS code) from Lloyd's Register in September 2013, as an ISM Lead Auditor from Lloyd's Register in June 2013, as a Yacht Master 1st Class from the Danish Maritime Authority in September 2008, as an Authorization as Marine Accident Investigator from the Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board in January 2016, and as an Authorization as Ship Surveyor from the Danish Maritime Authority in August 2012.
