Maria Mirotsou

Maria Mirotsou currently serves as Vice President of Discovery Biology at Scribe Therapeutics, a position held since July 2023. Previously, Mirotsou was the Executive Director of Discovery Biology at Merck Research Laboratories from August 2020 to March 2023 and held the role of Senior Director of Research at Astellas Institute of Regenerative Medicine from July 2016 to May 2020. Earlier experience includes Director of Research at Capricor Therapeutics, Inc. and an Assistant Professor position at Duke University, focusing on cardiovascular research and adult stem cells. Mirotsou's career began at Duke University as an Associate (Junior faculty) and a Group Leader at Cenix Bioscience, where expertise in miRNA and siRNA screening was developed. Educational credentials include a postdoctoral degree in Cardiovascular Genomics from Harvard Medical School, a PhD in Molecular Genetics from University College London, and a BS in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
