Anant Gharpure

Anant Gharpure is a Staff Scientist at Scripps Research, where research focuses on cryo-electron microscopy since January 2021. Prior to this position, Anant served as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Patapoutian and Ward Labs, contributing to studies on the structural basis of mechanosensation and antiviral drug discovery. Anant's academic journey includes a PhD in Molecular Biophysics from UT Southwestern Medical Center, completed in 2020, and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Brown University, earned in 2014. Earlier research experience includes working as a Graduate Student in the Hibbs Lab, investigating the structure and function of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels, and as a Research Assistant in the Kauer Lab, focusing on molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity.
